Many kids in our greater community receive free or reduced-priced meals through the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program. For many of these children, school meals may be the only meals they eat. Have you ever thought of what happens to these children when they go home over the weekend? Our weekend meals program is helping 50 kids in (2) schools in Columbia County (Euchee Creek Elementary and Westmont Elementary) by providing kids with necessary non-perishable, easy-to-prepare food to ensure they get enough nutrition on weekends and holidays to avoid hunger when they can’t depend on school meals they need for the weekend. How can you help? We are collecting non-perishable food items to be packed in the weekend meal bags which will be sent home to the students who would otherwise not have meals on the weekend. We will be collecting these items until Friday, March 26th
