THE 3 T’S AND THE REAL CAUSE OF DISEASE

Did you know that there are nearly 70,000 diagnosis codes?  These are codes that medical professionals use to classify your disease, dysfunction, or chronic condition.  These codes help medical doctors determine which drug, injection, or procedure they will prescribe to treat your symptoms.

Did you know that all these 70,000 diagnosis codes have one thing in common?  A ROOT CAUSE!  A great chiropractor, Dr. Fred Barge, once said,

“There is but one cause in disease—the body’s inability to comprehend itself or it’s environment.”

What this statement means is your symptoms are not the cause of your dis-ease!  They are a product of the dis-ease!  The question we forget to ask when we have a diagnosis is why—why thyroid disease or heart disease or IBS or fibromyalgia or…insert your health condition here.

Dr. Barge provides us with the why.  Medical professionals have 70,000 diagnosis codes to name to your conglomerate of symptoms.  But none name the root cause!  The cause of your diagnosis is, essentially, your body doesn’t know what is happening inside!

Let’s look at it like this:

The human body has 11 organ systems that allow you to function and be alive.  These systems are interrelated—meaning, each one depends on the health of the other 10.  The master system—the one that controls and coordinates the function of all the other systems—is the Nervous System.  You live your life through your nervous system!  A healthy nervous system ensures the other systems are at optimal capacity.  Every single action in the body, at it’s core, is a response by the nervous system.

Because your body systems are dependent on each other, interference in one system will eventually cause interference in another system.  It may take years for you to notice your body isn’t working well, because your nervous system is a master of adaptation.  This means that it will change your physiology to keep you operating as best as you can.  Unfortunately, years down the road, when things start to break down, we don’t know why and just attribute it to age, life, whatever.  We don’t realize that the problem may have started years before.

You break down because you have interference that prevents your nervous system from comprehending what the rest of your body is doing.  That interference is what we call a Subluxation.  A subluxation can be caused by a misalignment of the spine, but it can also cause spinal misalignments.  Over time, this leads to discoordination between your body systems.  The longer subluxation is ignored, the more significant the discoordination becomes over time.

Where do Vertebral Subluxations come from?  Dr. D.D. Palmer summarized it well way back in 1910:

  • Traumas: Whether it is a major trauma, such as a car accident or slip and fall, or a repetitive microtrauma, such as sitting at a desk for 8 hours or gaming all day, trauma can have a huge impact on both how we feel and function.
  • Toxins: Toxins refer to what we put into our bodies. Today’s diet high in sugar, artificial chemicals, and genetically modified organisms does not promote good health. Many things we eat are highly inflammatory to our bodies—even those things marketed as “healthy.” Other forms of toxins are environmental toxins such as water pollution and mold.
  • Thoughts: Thoughts are what most people tend to ignore. Our highly stressful lifestyle gets us stuck in a “fight or flight” state. When we are constantly in this state, it can alter our hormones and trigger a negative cascade in the body. The stress response can be beneficial in the short term.  But chronically being in this state will cause our health to break down and deteriorate.

In Chiropractic, we call these the “3 T’s.”  Each of these T’s affects how our nervous system and our entire body functions.  We ignore them for a variety of reasons, but when we are faced with problems down the road, we just can’t understand why we are falling apart.

Dr. Barge goes on to say,

“There is but one cure in disease—the body’s ability to heal itself.

And there is only one thing any doctor can do for a patient.  That is to remove an obstruction to healing, thus facilitating it.

So, you have a choice.  One choice is to continue with the same behaviors and the same thinking—and wait to be labeled with one or more of those 70,000 diagnosis codes and need risky drugs, injections, or procedures to address the symptoms.

Or…you can act now to get on a path toward better function and better health.  Heal from your traumas, toxins, and thoughts.  Work to create a healthier life and seek to prevent hidden health issues over time.  The most important means of prevention is to care for the Master System of your body—your nervous system.  Regular chiropractic care will remove the obstructions to healing.  It will facilitate optimal health and is a prime means of ensuring a healthier happier life—free of drugs, injections, and surgeries.
